Due to his expertise Brien is often asked to deliver technical papers on estate and  succession planning issues to industry bodies including the Taxation Institute of Australia, CPA Australia and Legalwise and community and business networking groups.

Outside of work, apart from his family, Brien has a deep interest in military history, particularly Australias involvement in both  World Wars. Two of the most emotionally moving experiences Brien has had include attending an ANZAC day ceremony at Villers Bretonneux in France and   attending a D-Day commemorative ceremony at the American war cemetery at Omaha Beach in Normandy, France.
